The N.C. Transportation Museum, Spencer, will be closed on April 9 and 10 for work on site; it re-opens on Wednesday, the 11th at the usual time.

The Hickory Museum of Art is seeking artists and crafters for its 6th Annual Art on the Avenue FREE Family Fair on May 5 on the grounds of the Arts and Science Center, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Registration forms and $25 fee must be received by April 13. From 10 a.m. to 4 pm. on Saturday, April 14th, experience the operations of a Civil War field hospital at the High Point Museum (rain date: April 21).

Cameron Art Museum, Wilmington has announced Kids @ Museum Camp, a summer camp on summer mornings, available on a choice of five different weeks. Pre-registration and fee information is available online or by calling 910-395-5999, extension 1000. Meanwhile, the Girls Choir of Wilmington will perform on Sunday, April 15 from 2-2:30 p.m.; admission by donation.

The N.C. Museum of History, Raleigh, will host a Hawaiian Dance Troupe at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 15th; a Curator's Tour of "What We Wore in North Carolina" at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 22; and will celebrate National History Day in North Carolina from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 28th. On the same day from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Sanford potters Sandy Cole and Kevin Brown will work on site; they will also be on site on Sunday, April 29 from 1 to 3 p.m., and drop-in visitors can try their own hands at the potting skill.

April Toddler Time at Port Discover, Elizabeth City, will feature "April Showers" as its theme. The fee is $5 per family; the 2 and 3 year old program is at 9:30 a.m. and the 4 and 5 year old program is at 11 a.m., on Thursday, April 19. Call 252-338-6117 for reservations.

The New Bern Historical Society will meet on Thursday, May 10 for a Lunch and Learn session on "In the Story," reviewing authors who have used New Bern as a setting, include Jules Verne, Mark Twain and others. Advance reservations are required: call 252-638-8558.

On Saturday, April 14, the final day of the Kings Mountain Historical Museum's current exhibit, "Here Comes the Bride," a wedding is planned. It is a Civil War period wedding, to be performed at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., at the Robert Barber House. Call 704-739-1019 for more information.
